Texting registration
Register your business with US carriers so your agents can send texts — the business profile, the texting campaign, and what each status means.
US carriers require every business that sends texts to be registered. Until you are, Chatley can still answer calls, send emails and make calls — but texts to US numbers will not send. The page that walks you through it is Texting registration, in your account settings.
Registration has two parts, and carriers review them in order:
- Business profile — who you are.
- Texting campaign — what you will text about, and how customers agree.
You need a US phone number first. If you do not have one, the page says You need a US phone number first and links you to Phone numbers.
1. Business profile
Choose Start business profile and enter who you are, who gets the texts and why. Carriers check these details against IRS records, so copy them exactly from your EIN letter. You also give a contact carriers can reach if they have a question.
Choose Submit business profile. It is sent to the carriers, and review usually starts within a day. Texting campaign setup unlocks once this is submitted.
2. Texting campaign
Choose Set up texting campaign. The wizard asks for:
| Step | What you provide |
|---|---|
| Use case | Pick the closest match; it decides the sample messages written for you. |
| Number | The phone number carriers will approve. Numbers you add after approval are covered automatically. |
| Messages | The texts your agent really sends. Check the wording — it must name your business and mention STOP, HELP and message and data rates. Use Reset to suggested to start again. |
| How customers agree | Exactly how someone says yes before you text them: a spoken yes on a call, a consent box on a form, a keyword, or a signed paper form. Screenshots or a photo of the form can be attached as proof. |
| Review and submit | A preview of exactly what carriers will see. Fix anything flagged, then submit. |
Website statements
Carriers also look at your website. Confirm that it is live and that:
- your privacy policy says mobile information is not shared with third parties for marketing, and includes the sentence Chatley shows you;
- your terms explain message frequency, message and data rates, STOP and HELP.
Both pages must be live on your own website.
Add the consent box to your website
If customers agree through a web form, Chatley gives you a snippet. Copy it, paste it inside the form on your contact or booking page, publish the page, enter its address and verify. Chatley confirms Found the consent box on your page.
Only a clear yes opts someone in, and agreeing is never a condition of purchase. Anyone who replies STOP is never texted again.
