description: Connect Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, or any MCP-compatible AI agent to Chatley and let it manage your AI voice agents, read your calls, and work with your knowledge bases.
---
Chatley speaks the **Model Context Protocol**, so the AI tools you already use can
operate your Chatley account directly. Connect once, and your assistant can list
calls, read transcripts, review analytics, configure AI voice agents, and manage
knowledge bases on your behalf — without you opening the dashboard.

It works with any MCP-compatible client, including Claude, Claude Code, Cursor,
and ChatGPT.

:::note
This is the inbound direction: your AI agent calls Chatley. For the opposite
direction — a Chatley AI voice agent calling out to your own tools during a live
call — see [MCP Connectors](./connectors.md).

## Endpoint

```text
https://mcp.chatley.ai/mcp
```

The server uses **Streamable HTTP**, and falls back to **SSE** for older clients.
HTTPS is required; plain HTTP requests are rejected.

## Connecting

Most clients need only the URL. Add it as a remote MCP server, and your client
will walk you through signing in to Chatley in a browser window. There is no key
to copy, no manual registration step, and nothing to paste back.

See [Connecting a client](./connecting.md) for the details and for
client-specific notes.

## What your agent can do

| Area | Tools |
| --- | --- |
| **Calls** | List calls, read one call's details, read its transcript, and pull aggregate analytics |
| **AI voice agents** | List agents, read one agent's full configuration, create an agent, save changes as a draft, and publish that draft |
| **Voices** | List the available voices |
| **Knowledge** | List knowledge bases, and delete them |
| **Account** | List your workspaces, and list the Chatley accounts you administer |
| **Metered access** | Read the rate card and your balance |

Sixteen tools. Mature platforms expose sixty or more and then warn that long
tool lists degrade an assistant's answers and slow it down — so this list starts
focused and grows on evidence.

The full reference, with every parameter and what each tool returns, is in
[Tool reference](./tools.md).

**Not available yet:** contacts, campaigns, and adding items to a knowledge
base. An assistant will tell you those tools do not exist rather than
substituting something else.

## What it will not do

Some things are deliberately absent, because an AI agent operating at speed is a
different risk profile from a person clicking through a dashboard:

- **Nothing is deleted in a single step.** Removing data always takes a second,
  explicit confirmation.
- **Live AI voice agents are never edited directly.** Changes are saved as a
  draft, and going live is a separate action you can review first.
- **There are no bulk-delete or update-everything-matching tools.** They are the
  highest-blast-radius operations in an agent's hands, and they are not offered.

[Safety and limits](./safety.md) explains each of these and how to work with them.

## Two ways to work with an assistant

Chatley also has [Ikora](../architect.md), the assistant built into the
dashboard. Ikora and the MCP server run the same operations underneath — the
difference is where you are standing.

| | Ikora | MCP Server |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Where | Inside Chatley | Your own AI tool |
| Best for | Working in Chatley with an assistant beside you | Bringing Chatley into work happening somewhere else |
| Sign-in | Already signed in | Connect once, in your browser |

If your assistant is already handling your calendar, your CRM, and your inbox,
connecting Chatley to it lets one conversation span all of them.
