title: Twilio
description: Bring your own Twilio account so your agents use numbers you already own.
---

Connecting Twilio lets your agents work with phone numbers from your own Twilio
account rather than numbers provided through Chatley.

## Connect it

1. Open your workspace and go to **Integrations**.
2. Select the **Twilio** card.
3. Enter the two values from your Twilio console:
   - **Account SID** — the 34-character identifier for your Twilio account.
   - **Auth Token** — the matching token.
4. Save.

Treat the auth token like a password: anyone holding it can act on your Twilio
account. Rotate it in Twilio if you think it has been exposed, then reconnect
here with the new one.

## Inbound text messages

Connecting Twilio is one half of receiving SMS. The other half is done in the
Twilio console, where you point your number's incoming-message webhook at
Chatley — see [Inbound SMS (Twilio)](../sms-inbound.md) for that.

## Troubleshooting

| Problem | What to check |
| --- | --- |
| The credentials are rejected | Confirm you copied the Account SID (34 characters) and its matching Auth Token, both from the same Twilio account. |
| Messages do not arrive | The webhook in the Twilio console is a separate step — see [Inbound SMS (Twilio)](../sms-inbound.md). |
